TSOs Pay

Posted by admin on March 27, 2012 in TSO |

This is for all TSOs who may have wondered why their fortnightly pay doesn’t quite match their own calculation.

I queried my payments with senior management of the ASTU and was advised the calculations are rounded (up and down) to the NEAREST quarter hour.

I’m thinking that TSOs pay is not yet automated or it would precisely match the hours and minutes that we report on our Claim forms.

  • Sue says:

Do you mean they can round down 15 mins? Do you get 3hrs minimum pay?

  • Rod says:

    Hi Sue,

I can answer both your questions. The reply I received states the payment variance is a rounding issue.

“Payments for TSOs are based on time worked, with a minimum 1 hour payment and DAILY times are rounded up or down to the nearest 15 minutes.”

Some days I had claimed 6 hrs 5 mins and that got rounded down to 6.0 hours (Decimal)

Some days I had claimed 6 hrs 10 mins and that got rounded up to 6.25 hours (6 hours 15 mins).

  • Sue says:

Thanks for Info. It probably works out overall with the rounding. What if you only have a short run? Are you only paid for a hour?

  • Rod says:

Yes the rounding works ok – BUT I will ’round up’ to the nearest 15 minutes on my claim form and avoid any ’rounding down’.

Yes – TSOs are paid a minimum of one hour.
